Fiberglass Failure #2 - View
Photos below
Location:
Bemidji, MN
Date: June 2009
Neither NCI nor J&B Quality Const. had anything to do with this Project Prior
to June 2009.
Problems Noticed: Snow and Frost Melting in Irregular Patterns,
Little Water Condensation, thought it was time for new shingles.
Overview: 30 yr old home. Frost and Snow Melting in very
cold weather indicating Heat Loss .
What Happened: Fiberglass Insulation slows down Warm Air
Movement (Infiltration). It doesn't stop it, so as the warm
air came into contact with Plywood Roof Sheathing in the
winter (Below 32 Degrees F) Frost and Condensation occur.
At some point it needs to melt. In many roof systems, it
has little chance of drying out, creating perfect conditions
for Mold.
Also very inefficient and expensive. Foaming it was the perfect
solution for the problems.
